Maryville R-II School District would like to invite you to join us for two exciting Ground Breaking ceremonies! The Ground Breaking of the new MHS Sports Field will take place on May 21st at 11:30 am. The ceremony will take place at MHS stadium. Join us the following day, on May 22nd, for the EFES/MECC Ground Breaking. This ceremony will be held on the front lawn of EFES at 11:40 am. The regional Optimist Speech Contest was south of KC on Saturday. Five were high school speech & debate students. 1st place is a graduating senior. 2nd place: Tessa Mayne (MMS 7th grader). 3rd place: Faye Hornickel (MMS 6th grader). Tessa advances to state at the Lake of the Ozarks on May 11. Faye is the alternate. They are both phenomenal speakers and won scholarship money today.

Today, MMS welcomed 200 guests into our building for our annual Leadership Day. It was a fantastic morning that highlighted the leadership skills of our students. This is the eleventh year MMS has been a Leader in Me school. Students learn to become great leaders at Maryville R-II! Thanks to our wonderful staff for supporting this program and our students. A special thanks to Mrs. Nolte, Mrs. Webster, and Mrs. White for their hard work and preparation for today.
